Global Business Services Director Site Lead

Brightwater Executive has been retained exclusively by a global materials manufacturer & product solutions provider to appoint a Finance Global Business Services leader to launch their new centre of excellence in Dublin city centre. This role will suit an experienced finance leader with extensive experience in shared services builds, with ideally 15 years PQE of which at least 5 has been operating at senior leadership level.


The GBS director will be responsible for the design, launch, and steady state operations across all GBS functions (100+ staff) including activities related to Purchase to Pay (P2P), Record to Report (R2R), and Order to Cash (O2C) areas. This role will actively participate in strategy development, decision making and towards the leadership of the organisation. They work across a wide-range of end-markets, having achieved over $3bn net sales, employing over 2,000 people globally.

Key Responsibilities:


• Provide a key role in the establishment of the organisation’s GBS through its multiple waves of build out & transition. • Responsible for building and maintaining strategic relationships within the Company, as well as key external contacts such as BPO provider(s) as well as internal and external audit partners. • Represent the Global GBS organisation to internal and external customers at the highest levels. • Oversee the fiscal activities of the GBS, including budgeting, reporting & audit support. • Participate in regular cross-functional leadership meetings that aim to achieve the following: o Promote commitment to GBS and approve GBS strategic direction. o Participate in decisions on hiring of senior GBS management. o Review yearly financial & service performance. • Act as Site Leader with overall responsibility of site management & administration. • Ensure SOX controls are managed, and staff is compliant with policies & procedures.

Client Stakeholder Management:

• Collaborate with Global Process Owners to continually improve quality, efficiency, and synergies. • Develop the service footprint expansion and milestones. • Implement consistent standards and efficient methods of working across functional teams. • Continually measure outputs, capability, and success criteria of the centre.

Leadership and People Management

• Lead performance management and appraisal as well as goal setting for talent in all regions. • Play a key role in leadership, coaching, driving diversity, and mentoring efforts.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• 15+ years in managing GBS/SSC organisations. • Global experience in finance leadership roles managing director level reports. • Track record of successfully leading the launch & operations of a shared service centre for a multinational corporation. • Experienced in leading teams of 70-100+ staff. • Significant experience in leading, managing & developing people. • Demonstrated ability to effectively balance financial and operational factors and analyse complex business problems to develop appropriate solutions. • Strong business acumen and customer orientation. • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills. • Qualification: - Professional Qualification in ACA / ACCA / CIMA / CPA. • Strong accounting/ finance background and systems orientation (SAP, BPC) • Advanced degree / MBA preferred.
