Head of Internal Audit: Semi-State Body As Head of Internal Audit, you will be responsible for improving the operating effectiveness of the organisation through independent appraisal of the adequacy of control frameworks, governance and risk management. You will be expected to demonstrate a systematic and thorough approach, and as part of the senior management team, contribute directly to the organisation’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and implement the annual Internal Audit Plan, including any special projects, and report to the Audit & Risk Committee • Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies to provide audit coverage in the most efficient and cost effective way • Report quarterly to the Audit & Risk Committee addressing results of audits conducted, projects completed and recommendations made • Report significant issues or areas of concern to the Audit & Risk Committee and include recommendations to resolve • Provide independent consultancy and advice to Senior Management as requested • Develop new processes / controls in accordance to changes in regulations / systems etc. • Regularly review the Internal Audit Charter • Manage the relationship and direct the activities of the Internal Audit service provider

The Ideal Candidate for this role:

• Fully qualified member of a recognised accountancy body and / or hold the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors CMIIA • Extensive internal audit experience across a wide range of sectors • Display a detailed knowledge of governance and risk management practices and systems • Experience of and ability to manage senior stakeholders including Boards of Directors, Audit & Risk Committees, Executive Management etc. • Previous experience or knowledge of Semi-State bodies would be an advantage
