Dublin-based global general insurance company looking to appoint a Chief Risk Officer. Reporting directly into the CEO. Their P&C and personal lines book has grown hugely with over 200 million GWP, via their FoS platform within the EEA. The CRO will manage their risk management framework, maintaining an effective, proactive risk and controls function and culture. Ideal candidate will come from a strong finance and/or risk background with a strong qualitative risk mindset.

Role Profile Overview:

The CRO reports to the Chief Executive Officer and will work closely alongside their firm’s actuarial function, who is responsible for the preparation of the Company’s QRTs. The CRO participates in the QRT review group meetings. In addition, the actuarial function calculates financial and solvency projections based on the ORSA scenarios approved by the Board and provides the results to the risk function. The CRO will work closely with the Head of Compliance who is the Company’s contact person in respect of Supervisory correspondence and will liaise will the Group Risk Function, with other business functions, and the branch managers of the Company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement the firm’s risk management framework and risk policies and measure and assess the controls over material risks • Prepare a regular risk report, including a view of all current and future material risks, including emerging risk, for review by the Board Risk Committee • Provide comprehensive and timely information on the Company’s material risks which enables management and the Board to understand the overall risk profile • Be a central point for risk reporting and drive forward a proactive Annual Plan for the risk function, maintaining a risk function Calendar of activities • Chair the quarterly meetings of the Underwriting Management Committee (a non-Board management committee) • Review and document the risks to achieving the Company’s business plan and strategy • Co-ordinate the annual refresh of the risk policies • Maintain the Risk Register • Lead the ORSA process, Capital Management Plan process and the Recovery Plan process • Facilitate the setting of the risk appetite by the Board • Provide advice on risk management to all stakeholders • Promote a strong risk culture • Maintain the Business Continuity Plan • Support the business units in monitoring and reporting on outsourcing risk • Coordinate the drafting of the Solvency & Financial Condition Report and the Regular Supervisory Report • Participate in the Quantitative Reporting Templates (‘QRT’) review group meetings.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Accounting or Risk Management qualification with prior experience working in a regulated (re)insurance company • Knowledge of Irish (re)insurance Supervisory environment • Demonstrated ability to deliver results under tight deadlines and competing objectives • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (specifically, strong Microsoft Excel skills) • Strong inter-personal skills and willingness/ability to function as member of a multi-disciplined, international team • Strong integrity and moral compass For more information on this Chief Risk Officer role, please contact Estelle Davis on 01 5927 844 or email [email protected]
