I'm partnering with a well-established international insurance and reinsurance group on the search for a Senior Tax Manager to join its central tax team in Dublin. The group operates across Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific, and this hire will take ownership of tax matters in the European and APAC regions, based out of Dublin.
About the position
You'll sit within a small, senior team that acts as the in-house point of reference for tax across the business, covering advisory work, tax accounting and compliance in multiple countries. The role suits someone who likes combining hands-on technical work with oversight of external providers, and who wants a broader remit as new international tax regimes bed in.
What you'll be doing
- Reviewing and challenging tax returns prepared by outside advisors in Europe and APAC, and managing those relationships.
- Advising on indirect tax, withholding tax, cross-border tax reporting and intra-group and third-party transactions.
- Supporting the quarterly and year-end tax provision process under US GAAP, IFRS and several local reporting frameworks.
- Reviewing current and deferred tax balances, uncertain tax positions and disclosure notes.
- Providing the tax input into regulatory capital and solvency reporting.
- Working on global minimum tax (Pillar Two) calculations, filings and ongoing compliance.
- Tracking law changes and explaining their impact to senior colleagues.
- Reviewing transfer pricing documentation.
- Backing the tax director on planning and supporting deal, investment and restructuring work.
- Preparing audit-ready files and concise briefings for senior stakeholders, and supporting external audits and internal control testing.
- Improving processes, controls and internal policies, and picking up ad hoc projects.
- Working closely with Finance, Legal, Investments and other teams.
What we're looking for
- Around 10-12 years experience, with at least 5 in international tax within a corporate setting (financial services is a plus, not a must).
- An academic background with accounting and finance discipline as well as both CTA ad ACA qualification.
- Exposure to tax reporting under US GAAP is desirable.
- Strong analytical and data skills and a methodical approach to documentation.
- Confidence handling complex multi-country tax questions.
- Good communication skills, including with colleagues outside tax.
- Self-starter who works well independently and in a team, and delivers to tight deadlines.
- Experience with tax provision and compliance software is helpful but not essential.
Why consider it
You'd get exposure to a global business, a senior role in a lean team, hands-on involvement in new international tax developments, and a hybrid setup in Dublin.
