February Blue Ribbon Winner
09 Mar 2020
Simon Morris
Congratulations Simon Morris, Assistant Manager of our Accounting Practice & Tax Division in our Dublin office on winning the Blue Ribbon for the month of February!
Simon Morris is February’s worthy recipient of the blue ribbon. Simon has really made the PPT area his own and is the go to person in this market. He is an excellent networker and has built a profile for himself with both clients and candidates alike. All of this aside, Simon is a great team player, is always at hand to help colleagues. Simon is, overall, a pleasure to have as part of the Brightwater team. Well done!
What industry and area do you recruit in?
Accounting Practice and Tax
How long have you been working in recruitment?
Nearly 2 ½ years now.
What is your favourite part of your job?
Definitely the career guidance aspect for when the candidate requires a little steering. It’s a nice part of the job being able to help people this way.
What was your background before recruitment?
Prior to recruitment I ran my own business, followed by a short stint in sales.
What has been your highlight since starting in Brightwater?
The highlight was definitely having been promoted to Principal Consultant this year.
Who are you amongst your friends?
The guy who goes to bed early.
What was your favourite holiday and why?
My hiking trip to the Pyrenees with the lads last year was good fun. It felt like a real adventure so we’re going to make it a regular thing.
Name 3 things on your bucket list?
Take the kids on a safari, complete the Dublin triathlon & own another convertible again soon- preferably before I hit middle age & everyone accuses me of having a mid-life crisis (it might be too late for that ..)
What is your favourite book or film?
I read the Steve Jobs autobiography recently and it was fantastic-would highly recommend!
Which of the characters from it would you be?
Definitely not Steve Jobs anyway. Probably one of the idiots who bailed in the early stages and said that Apple wouldn’t work.
If you could have dinner with 2 people, current or historical, who would they be?
Steve Jobs (although he was a vegan so that meal would probably be a bit rubbish). Richard Branson might be interesting enough to talk to also.
What would you choose for your last meal?
Has to be a roast chicken dinner with all the trimmings
Have you ever taken part in a parade?
Never. Not really on my bucket list either.
What’s your favourite Irish food?
Can’t beat good quality black pudding, a national treasure.
What’s your favourite place in Ireland?
I really like Kinsale, it’s a great foodie place with great places to eat and beer gardens to with the sun go down.
