Head of Human Resources

Brightwater has been retained exclusively by an organisation who are looking for a new Head of Human Resources. This is a newly created appointment that will lead the HR function, providing both strategic development and operational delivery. You will play a key role in the implementation and delivery of the organisation’s 5-year strategy. As a key member of the leadership Team, the post-holder will have the opportunity to provide support to the Board, the CEO and the Management Team across a wide variety of initiatives and developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and develop the HR Structure to ensure appropriate HR supports are in place to deliver the HR function and Strategy.
  • Providing operational leadership in order to manage, review and develop the Human Resources function.
  • In conjunction with the Head of Finance, ensure that an appropriate system of Budgeting and Financial Control in place across the human resources department and the organisational payroll.
  • Oversee all Employee Contractual arrangements.
  • To provide advice and support on the organisation’s human resources policies, procedures and practices and to ensure their implementation.
  • Develop and implement effective quality management systems.
  • Develop an appropriate Human Resources communications strategy.
  • Oversee the implementation and utilisation of HR technology systems and leveraging technology for efficient HR processes and data management.

Strategic Human Resources Leadership
  • Develop and implement human resources strategies aligned with the organisation's overall Strategic priorities, Mission and Values.
  • Collaborate with the senior management team to ensure HR initiatives support service priorities and objectives.
  • To support the implementation of strategic initiatives as part of the strategic plan for all services.
  • Develop and maintain a workforce plan for both the immediate and long-term staffing needs of the all services and have the appropriate approvals processes in place

Recruitment, Retention & Succession Planning
  • Oversee the recruitment process, ensuring the organisation attracts and retains top talent.
  • Develop and implement effective onboarding and employee development programs.
  • Develop and implement succession planning strategies.
  • Identify and nurture high-potential employees for leadership roles.

Employee Relations
  • Foster positive employee relations and maintain a positive culture and healthy work environment
  • To advise and participate in the implementation of the grievance and disciplinary procedures and all aspects of employee relations within the hospital.
  • Leading negotiations with staff and staff representative groups in relation to all employee relations, conflict resolution and personnel matters.

Employee Engagement and Wellness
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Conduct employee surveys and feedback mechanisms.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance employee Health & Wellbeing.

Training and Development
  • Identify organisational training needs and coordinate professional development and leadership programs in consultation with the management colleagues.
  • Developing and administering tan organisation wide training/education programme.
  • Facilitate learning opportunities to enhance employee skills and competencies.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)
  • Lead efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organisation.
  • Implement initiatives to create an inclusive workplace culture.

Experience/Requirements

  • Educated to Masters/Post Graduate Diploma level (NFQ Level 9) in the area of Human Resources Management and/or subject related to the functions of this role and evidence of on-going continuing professional development;
  • Additional training and/or experience in aspects related to Human Resources;
  • Extensive experience in Human Resources Management and significant managerial experience;
  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting is desirable;
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills and ability to plan and prioritise work while responding flexibly to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills – written, verbal and able to influence and negotiate at all levels.
  • Team player with proven ability and willingness to lead and motivate colleagues and to work collaboratively to ensure human resources objectives are met, developing constructive working relationships in pursuit of delivering high quality services.
  • Ability to work autonomously while ensuring that the expectations of the Chief Executive are readily met and exceeded.
  • Good working knowledge of GDPR regulations, the Data Protection Acts and Information Governance requirements.
  • Resilience and stamina to sustain performance when faced with a high volume of work and conflicting priorities.
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork, interpersonal skills, energy, enthusiasm and commitment.
  • Proven ability to assume responsibility and make decisions.
  • Ability to lead the change process, from problem recognition to change implementation and evaluation.

Remuneration Package

€95,000 - €130,000 plus benefits
