Tax Trainee

About the Company

Our client is a boutique firm of specialist tax advisers with an opening in our tax trainee programme. They work with a broad range of clients providing compliance and practical consultancy advice across all tax heads.
They provide advice directly to private clients, as well as intermediaries, and provide back-up tax technical expertise to complement legal and accountancy firms’ own services. The firm advises across all tax heads and the training is varied and extensive.

About the Position

The position involves mainly tax compliance work initially, and over the 4 year training program you will gain practical experience across a range of tax heads with the option of developing consultancy skills as your tax technical knowledge develops. The training is tiered and progressive and the level of responsibility and exposure to more complex tax issues will increase as your skills develop. You will interact directly with clients, government agencies and other professional services firms.
You will successfully complete the Irish Taxation Institute’s Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) exams as part of the training contract.

The Industry:
Tax is central to all commercial transactions, often driving key business decisions. It is an evolving area, and the strategic and analytical skills developed while training in tax will translate into any commercial or business environment.
Working in a firm which is focused on technical analysis and tailoring bespoke tax solutions to meet clients’ needs will afford you the opportunity to develop commercial and technical skills through practical experience, while acquiring a professional qualification.

What do We Offer?
They will provide you with continuous training & development, with hands-on tax experience and exposure to the practicalities of running a business, throughout the training contract.
You will be offered full support in undertaking the Irish Taxation Institute’s CTA exams and will benefit from internal training to complement the ITI course and manuals.  They offer external Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses as appropriate.
As a tax trainee in the firm, you will have the opportunity to gain exposure to interesting tax assignments and develop your tax technical expertise in tandem with compliance experience.
All trainees are mentored by senior staff who possess a broad range of skills and experience, offering the successful candidate an opportunity to develop tax technical and business skills in a supportive environment.

The Ideal Candidate:
You will:

• have or be anticipating a 2.1 honours degree, ideally in business or law (some taxation content would be an advantage),
• a high level of transferable skills such as problem solving, and the ability to analyse problems and implement solutions individually and as part of a team,
• excellent organisational skills, and
• an aptitude for numeracy
