About the Position
They are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Payroll and Accounts Assistant to join their busy and supportive team. This dual-role position offers an excellent opportunity to gain broad experience in both payroll processing and client accounts preparation within a professional accountancy practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of client payrolls, as well as assisting with the preparation of financial accounts for a variety of clients.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing:
Processing weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payrolls for a portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy and adherence to Irish payroll legislation (PAYE, PRSI, USC).
Managing starters and leavers, including processing P45s and relevant documentation.
Calculating and processing statutory payments such as sick pay, maternity pay, and holiday pay.
Preparing and submitting payroll reports to Revenue (e.g., ROS submissions).
Dealing with payroll queries from clients and their employees in a professional and timely manner.
Maintaining accurate payroll records and ensuring compliance with GDPR.
Keeping up-to-date with changes in Irish payroll legislation and best practices.
Accounts Preparation:
Assisting with the preparation of financial statements for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
Bookkeeping duties, including processing invoices, receipts, and bank reconciliations.
Maintaining accurate and organised accounting records.
Assisting with VAT returns and other compliance filings.
Liaising with clients to gather necessary financial information.
Supporting senior accountants with ad-hoc tasks and projects.
Experience/Requirements
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role preferably within an accountancy practice in Ireland.
A strong understanding of Irish payroll legislation (PAYE, PRSI, USC) and Revenue Online Service (ROS).
Experience with accounting software packages (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks).
Familiarity with bookkeeping principles and practices.
Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Discretion and the ability to handle confidential information.
Remuneration Package
€38,000-€42,000
