Data Analyst (Energy)

18 Month Contract – Hybrid 2 days per week in the office


About the Position

This role involves a range of responsibilities related to energy data collection, analysis, and reporting. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:


The Role

  • Oversee processes for acquiring energy data, including conducting direct surveys with energy suppliers and extracting data from public administrative sources.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key organisations to identify and access new sources of public data that enhance the quality and scope of energy statistics.
  • Develop and manage procedures for data validation, including reconciling discrepancies and liaising with suppliers to resolve queries.
  • Ensure timely responses to national and international energy data requests and obligations, such as those from EU institutions or global energy agencies.
  • Contribute to the preparation and delivery of energy reports and updates, including the production of charts, tables, and summary visuals.
  • Represent the organisation at national and international meetings and working groups related to energy statistics and reporting.
  • Take part in strategic planning and programme development within the team and broader organisation.
  • Provide administrative support, including responding to enquiries and managing day-to-day operational tasks.
  • Be flexible and responsive during periods of high activity to meet critical deadlines.


The Candidate
  • Proven ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with data providers to support accurate and timely data collection.
  • Strong technical skills in managing, analysing, and presenting data.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of best practices in data gathering, processing, and statistical analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team and across stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to identify gaps and areas for improvement in data quality, reporting processes, and procedures.
